Alia Hamada Forrest, Executive Director
Alia Hamada Forrest is the Executive Director of RVMS and has lived in Greater Boston since 2003, where she traveled all the way from Phoenix, AZ to attend Emerson College. Alia has worked as a children’s book editor, a barista, a prep cook, an AmeriCorps Massachusetts Promise Fellow at 826 Boston, and most extensively for the last several years in Boston and Cambridge, as a non-profit program and volunteer manager. Alia enjoys building community with others and providing opportunities for folks of all ages to become active volunteers in their own neighborhoods. Right before she became the Executive Director of RVMS, she worked as the RVMS Program Manager (2015-2016), where she coordinated and managed projects like like the Bike Corral on Cohasset Street, the RVMS banner in Adams Park, the Holiday Market on Birch Street, and the new RVMS website. Overall, she loves collaborating in all ways with the RVMS Board, Committees, and the whole Rozzie community to get the good work done.
Alia is passionate about empowering Rozzidents to become community organizers. She also has a passion for civic engagement and public art. Additionally, Alia is a published poet and a new mom. Some of her favorite things include eating and baking pies, going out to eat, practicing meditation, and going on long urban walks. She lives in Roslindale with her husband and daughter.
