A message from the owner of Boston Cheese Cellar

A message from the owner of Boston Cheese Cellar:

Dear Friends,

Five years ago, I stepped into the unknown to run a cheese shop in my local Boston neighbourhood of Roslindale. Although I knew nothing of retail, a small amount about cheese, and only a little bit about operating a business, my desire to contribute to the community which I call home, overwhelmed these concerns.

Five successful years later having given all of my energy to Boston Cheese Cellar, I have decided to bring this exhausting yet meaningful adventure to an end, and so, Boston Cheese Cellar will be closing its doors on 29th February.

Looking back over this unique journey, I feel satisfaction, happiness and pride for what Boston Cheese Cellar has achieved. In a short amount of time, Boston Cheese Cellar made an impact, by winning local and international awards, such as Main Streets Business of the Year in 2016, Best Cheese Shop in Boston 2017, and Adopt-An-Alp Champion 2018; and by making tangible changes in the local neighbourhood, such as the inception of the Birch St Plaza (coming soon!) and the Roslindale Holiday Market starring our wonderful Raclette and Bratkäse.

But it wasn’t just locally that Boston Cheese Cellar made friends. Our cheesemaking classes and pairing events called people out from Manhattan, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont to visit our Roslindale neighbourhood. Our special cheese evenings, where we hosted cheese professionals from Switzerland, Scotland, England and Spain, made the hot summer nights especially memorable.

As I step out from behind the cheese counter, and reflect on the future ways by which I can contribute further to my neighbourhood and city, I want to celebrate you, our customers and fellow cheese lovers, and to thank you for Boston Cheese Cellar’s success.

The achievements and reputation of Boston Cheese Cellar would not have been possible without your patronage and support – be it by word of mouth or online, and for this I, and all who have worked here, are truly humbled and grateful.

Although we will be closing at the end of February, we will still be open for these last two weeks (on a more limited schedule) for cheese, charcuterie and conversation.

So please do come in to say a final farewell, grab a grilled cheese and stock up on your favourites while you can!

Yours,

Adam
